Full length view of curly stumpwood
maple stocked Officer's Fusil.
Close up view, (without glare) showing
the magnificent stumpwood figure. You just don't see one much prettier!
Close up of engraving;" 7 June 1775 ,
Battle of Bunker Hill , John Stark New Hampshire Regulars." I had to free hand
this engraving over the double curved surface in the curved format. I was
brain dead at the end of the job...
Beautiful stylized "shell" carving
that is very typical of English fowlers. These Officer's Fusil styled guns
were custom built according to that particular offiicer's wishes. Mike Rowe
also did a full lock panel carving all around the lock and on the off side
panel. I unfortunately didn't get a photo of those areas. Note sterling silver
thumbpiece. Mike "King Dude" Church ought to be happy with his special gun!
We're going to try to have him come to the "hills", stay at the lodge and
teach him how to shoot, clean and maintain his new fusil. We also built a
detachable bayonet just in case his studio gets raided by Frenchmen...
