David Zucker, director of movies
including "Airplane"," Naked Gun" and sequels hosted a "David Crockett Frolic",
with invited participants coming from several states, including Danny from
Arkansas. David graciously hosted this collection of ne'r do wells at his ranch
home in California. (Location known only to the F.B.I. and the brew truck.)There
was much shooting, fine dining, consuming of fine beverages and general
entertainment. The main theme, of course, was David Crockett who was
played by David Zucker himself. It was great weekend with many fine guns to
inspect and the enjoyment of meeting fine friends!
Below; a little informal shooting and the obligatory group picture of
various ruffians assembled I would be
remiss here if I didn't mention John Ennis, a fantastic gunmaker from down San
Diego way. If you get the chance to see his work, treat yourself because this
gentleman's work is unreal! He is seated in the lower left front with the
large straw hat and Brown Bess musket across his lap. He's a great guy too.
Danny firing the English Game gun in .54 caliber.
Ready to touch her off. Even as light as the Game gun is, offhand groups
at 40- 50 yards average about 2-3 inches, plenty of accuracy for hunting
situations.
The entire gathering of n'er-do-wells.
The one dimensional cardboard cut-out in the center is David Crockett, not Al
Gore.
Danny enjoying some good natured banter with the gracious host, David Zucker.
