The first logs going up on Caywood's Camp-Run-A-Muk! The lodge will feature a spacious bedroom with 20 foot high vaulted ceilings, fireplace, extensive game mounts, and spacious deck for outside enjoyment. Pool table will be available for evening entertainment!

Inside view of kitchen and great room area with fireplace, about to be
finished. Side walls are going to peak at 20 feet with exposed ceiling beams.
Large windows overlooking King's River are 4 ft. by 10 ft. tall.

Here's the fireplace with the block-work almost done and the main ridge beams set. If it looks hot out there, it's because it is...note the trusty container of cold Red Dogs close by...to prevent heat stroke, of course.

West wall and future parking area. It has been hot building this, but we are finally going to get some cooler weather and hopefully speed up our production.

View of King's River from new road. The Lodge will sit downriver to the right of the sandbar sticking out in the edge of the picture. This hole is full of fish including huge catfish. I will be adding picture of the work in progress and also the beautiful views of the area. Stay tuned!

We started putting up the decking a week ago thursday and got the decking finished on Sunday morning. It's now time to put on the roof panels and after that, the burgundy iron roofing. Then we can take a deep breath and relax for about 5 seconds.

The width is 50 feet, not counting the eaves, but it doesn't look that big in this picture. The big windows to the side of the door are 10 feet tall by 4 feet wide. The peak of the roof is 20 feet off the floor height. We were down fishing for the afternoon when I took this picture.

Just a little spare time to relax and enjoy the unreal beauty of King's river. This hole, known as the "Blue Hole, is not only gorgeous, but full of big fish. We get to sit under the overhang and fish even when its raining! The lodge sits right above this magical spot.

Here's the roof (burgundy/brown) on from the little knoll overlooking the house. It is bigger than it looks, but the camera just doesn't convey it's true size. I worked Mike about half to death. We took off 4 days and put up all the insulated roof panels and the iron roofing! Except for soffit and end trim, it's about finished on top.

Shot of walk in basement and showing 4 foot overhangs on gabled ends. We now have all the windows in, the hand-made doors are built and installed and we're ready to put down oak flooring.

Close-up view of the hearth area just before finishing touches were done. I picked up all the smooth river rocks while scouting for bears and elk. You can sit down on the hearth and it is all so comfortable. Just kick back and enjoy the warmth of the fire.

The fireplace is finished and we built a matching base for the tree/structural support. I found that gum tree while bear hunting and went back later and "harvested" it, with the help of Karen, my big, beefy wife (all 104 pounds of her.) That's the lucky "rockfish" above the hearth. If you rub the rock before you go fishing, it will bring you great luck, or at least keep you from falling out of your canoe.

Here's the great room with more work done. The side walls are 12 feet tall and also made from Kentucky red cypress. We are just using lawn furniture temporarily because its easier to move around and Karen doesn't want any EVIL dust on her good furniture. It s got red oak flooring which I hand tongue-and-grooved. Three months to mill it and install it!!! We are using a lot of old barnwood in the house and on the cabinet-door fronts and drawers. Should be beautiful!

View of great room and master bedroom from kitchen. Karen's gobbler and her buck from last year.

Great room showing kitchen and lawn furniture!.

Great room and fireplace. The left door goes to basement

Entry way view from master bedroom.

Entry way from double doors. All the flooring is hand routered tongue and groove red oak, except for the tile in front of fireplace and in front of door in laundry room. I'm going to sand and finish the floors last so we don't ding them up too much moving ladders and tools around. Door next to fireplace is guest bedroom.

Guest bedroom which is still a workroom. .

Mater bedroom with French doors overlooking King's River.

Guest bathroom with "traditional" man-in-the-moon made from barnwood.

Guest bathroom. All of the drawer and door fronts in kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom are made from barnwood.

Guest shower/bathtub.

Long view of counter, and tile floor in laundry room.

Laundry room. Closet on left and lots of storage space in cabinets. There are 17 cabinet doors in this room alone. Also has a 10 foot long red oak countertop to attract all kinds of messes.

Jacuzzi with 17 inch wide red cypress, ready for skirt.

View from knoll above house showing all the trim on, the fireplace rocked and the yard seeded. Note King's River just past foundation and also on other side of lodge. Jacuzzi sits in near corner. Master bedroom is on left side. We also have a full basement which is currently a mess with all the wood piles, tools and construction . The tall window is in the guest bedroom.
All of our hinges, door handles, faucets and fixtures are hand rubbed bronze. The house features an energy efficient geothermal heating cooling system with 6 inch thick styrofoam roof panels for insulation. I'm tired from just looking at these pictures...
I've done all the electrical, plumbing and construction (had a local help me put up the logs!) so you can see why I'm sometimes brain dead! All the doors (15) are hand built from cypress. All of the interior boards, logs are hand sanded, even all the barnwood. Everything is smooth as a baby's behind and easy to clean. We are truly blessed to live in such a beautiful spot and I DO NOT take it for granted, EVER! We only live 5 minutes from town, but we've got total privacy and critters everywhere. We also have paved highway frontage so we don't have to beat our cars up on crummy roads to go in and out.
