An iron mounted French Type "D". Though a later and simpler version derived form the French Type "C", it's still a very elegant and early trade gun.  Note the grotesque mask thumbpiece, breech area carving and tear drop lock panel carving.

THE CAYWOOD FRENCH TYPE "D" TRADE GUN 


This fine gun features all fully engraved furniture, mask thumbpiece, inletted entry thimble with tailpiece and flat rifle style side plate. The French type "D" was one of the finest trade guns ever produced. With all fully inletted furniture and a trigger plate, this gun was  a step above the normal quality of trade guns being offered.


​THE CAYWOOD  FLAT FACE LOCK IS 5.5 INCHES, WITH A FLAT HAMMER AND SCULPTED, FLAT TOP FRIZZEN, UNBRIDLED.
THE PAN USES THE LONG DEEP GROOVE TYPICAL OF THIS ERA OF FRENCH LOCK. β€‹

The trigger guard is a straight rail style with medium size graceful bow and graceful trigger profile.

The octagon to round, swamped barrel features a straight tang style breech plug.

This high quality trade gun comes standard with a  maple stock and is offered in a right hand version only. This gun also features the 6 barrel interchangeable barrel system.
